In this Colleague in the Spotlight, we introduce Justus, a commercial professional whose journey from the Netherlands to Valencia reflects both the international spirit and entrepreneurial mindset that define Aexus. From the Netherlands to Valencia’s Tech Scene
Justus, 35, grew up in the Netherlands but has called Valencia home since 2016. After starting his career in various commercial roles, a friend introduced him to Aexus four years ago and he’s been part of the team ever since.
Valencia’s growing reputation as a tech hub, combined with its tight‑knit international community, made it the perfect place for him to build both a life and a career. While he still feels connected to the Netherlands, Valencia is where he truly feels at home.
How would you describe the team dynamic in your hub or region?
“One of the best things about working at Aexus is that I’m part of multiple teams. I connect daily with my Dutch colleagues, most of whom work remotely, and at the same time, we’re lucky to have our own hub here in Valencia, bringing together four different nationalities. We collaborate in the office several times a week, have lunch together, and sometimes go for a drink after work. For me, having a shared workspace is really important. I’m not at my best working alone from home all day every day.”
What part of your role do you find most energizing or fun?
“Since mid-2025, I’ve been serving as Team Lead for the Benelux region, and I’m really enjoying the role. I get to interact with many colleagues even more closely and support them in their work. This also gives me the opportunity to get in touch with a wider range of technologies. At the same time, I continue to manage my own clients, something I truly enjoy and will always value.One day I’m speaking with CIOs from hospitals, and the next day with senior management from Deloitte; the variation is what I like.”
Which project or partner interaction has taught you the most recently?
“It’s been a challenging but exciting experience, as many of the technologies are new to me. We work with solutions in areas like sustainability reporting, entity management, document management in Salesforce and even an AI tool for museum tour guides, among others. Each of these technologies has given me a unique perspective on the industries they operate in. So choosing just one would feel unfair.”
How does your work connect to Aexus’ mission of supporting innovative companies?
“Seeing so many innovations firsthand is incredible. I’ve encountered technologies, for example, in healthcare, that can genuinely make a difference or even save lives. It’s inspiring and motivates us to bring these innovations to the market and connect them with other companies. Often, these companies are just as amazed as I was when they first see the solution, which is really rewarding to witness. The moments when we have more consultative conversations with prospects I enjoy most.”
If you had to sum up your Aexus journey in one sentence, what would it be?
“Working at Aexus has been a steep learning curve, allowing me to explore technologies I hadn’t even known existed.”
