Europe may look like one market, but differences in buying culture, language, regulation, and sales cycles make a one-size-fits-all approach ineffective. Successful B2B scale-ups use a clear market entry framework: prioritizing the right markets, localizing their value proposition, executing a dedicated go-to-market motion and validating traction before scaling. - [What Is a Go-to-Market Strategy? A Practical Guide for European Expansion](https://aexus.com/what-is-a-go-to-market-strategy/): A go-to-market strategy (GTM Strategy) defines how you consistently generate and convert pipeline in a specific market. Many B2B scale-ups fail internationally because they reuse their domestic GTM playbook instead of adapting to local realities. An effective European GTM strategy requires country-specific ICPs, localized positioning and messaging, the right channel mix and a clear sales execution model. Especially in markets like DACH, success depends on language, trust-building, and tailored outreach. GTM is not a static document; it’s a living system that evolves through execution, KPIs, and continuous learning, often supported by external market entry services to accelerate and de-risk expansion. - [International Expansion: Complete Guide for B2B SaaS Companies](https://aexus.com/international-expansion/): International expansion is one of the most powerful growth levers for B2B SaaS companies, and also one of the most underestimated. But done poorly, it can drain resources, stall momentum, and damage brand credibility. - [Local Lead Generation: Why Language and Cultural Knowledge Matter in Europe](https://aexus.com/local-lead-generation/): In the world of B2B sales and B2B local lead generation in Europe, success isn’t just about data, tools, or outreach volume; it’s about connection. And in Europe, connection begins with language and culture. - [B2B Sales in Belgium: How to Drive Sustainable Growth in a Complex Market](https://aexus.com/b2b-sales-in-belgium/): Belgium may be small in size, but it plays an outsized role in European business. Strategically located at the heart of Europe, home to Brussels—the de facto capital of the European Union—and known for its multilingual workforce, Belgium offers strong opportunities for international companies looking to scale. For organisations considering B2B Sales in Belgium, understanding the country’s history, business structure, and sales culture is essential. - [Mass Email vs Personalized Outreach: What Actually Works for B2B SaaS](https://aexus.com/mass-email-vs-personalized-outreach/): Is mass email still effective, or does personalized outreach really outperform it? - [B2B Lead Generation vs Sales Outsourcing](https://aexus.com/b2b-lead-generation-vs-sales-outsourcing/): For tech and software companies planning international expansion, b2b lead generation is often the first commercial lever they pull. Leads feel measurable, tangible, and safe. But as many scale-ups discover, generating leads is not the same as building revenue. - [Local B2B Sales Still Matters: The Case for Localization in a Global Strategy](https://aexus.com/local-b2b-sales-still-matters/): Even in an increasingly globalized world, local B2B sales remains a decisive factor. But in complex B2B sales, this approach fails. True sales success still depends on deep personalisation, careful prospect selection, and human-driven interaction. AI should not replace the salesperson, it should support them. - [HealthTech Companies – 5 Proven Sales Strategies](https://aexus.com/healthtech-companies-5-proven-sales-strategies/): Selling technology into healthcare requires a fundamentally different approach from mainstream B2B sales. Doctors, specialists, and clinical staff have limited time and little patience for generic outreach. Decision-making is multi-layered, involving medical personnel, IT leaders, innovation teams, compliance officers, boards, and procurement. To succeed, HealthTech companies must adopt a highly tailored, trust-driven sales strategy that blends clinical understanding, relationship-building, ecosystem immersion, and compliant, value-focused communication. Below are five proven strategies that consistently help tech vendors break through in the healthcare market. - [B2B Sales in Germany: How to Expand and Drive Growth](https://aexus.com/b2b-sales-in-germany/): Since 2000, Aexus has successfully helped innovative tech companies entering new markets. In complex B2B tech sales, this builds more trust, shortens the path to real problem-solving and leads to better long-term relationships. At Aexus, we see it every day: when engineers, product specialists and solution architects step into client-facing roles, they quietly become some of our most effective commercial leaders. - [10 traits of winning services companies](https://aexus.com/10-traits-of-winning-services-companies/): After 25+ years of supporting tech, SaaS and services companies across Europe and the US, Aexus has identified 10 traits that consistently show up in high-performing services organizations. At Aexus, we’ve spent 25 years proving that personalization is the real driver of sales success. The new nation was consumed by a thirst for power and expansion, which directly led to the outbreak of World War I. Defeat, a disastrous peace agreement and a desire for revenge led to the rise of the Third Reich and World War II. - [Planet Aexus – France](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-france/): West Francia became France after expanding its territory under the reign of King Hugh Capet in 987. Wars quickly followed, including The Hundred Years War, which was one of many wars against the English. - [Planet Aexus – Finland](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-finland/): Until the 12th century, Finland was a political vacuum but both its neighbours, Sweden to the west and Russia to the east were interested in taking over. Sweden was the more dominant power as the peace treaty of 1323 shows. This gave only an assigned portion of eastern Finland to Novgorod and the western and southern parts were tied to Sweden. At this time, Swedish laws and social structure began to gain a foothold as did the Catholic Church. The Reformation which started in the 16th century, replaced the Catholic church with the Lutheran faith and set in motion a huge rise in the Finnish language and culture. - [Aexus’ Expert Guide to International Business Development](https://aexus.com/expert-guide-to-international-business-development/): In today's fast-paced and interconnected world, ambitious tech and software companies are constantly seeking to expand their global presence. However, venturing into new international markets can be a daunting task, fraught with challenges and uncertainties. This is where Aexus steps in as a trusted partner, helping innovative tech firms extend their reach into Europe, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. In this article, we will explore the key strategies and insights Aexus offers to navigate the uncharted waters of international business development. - [Planet Aexus – Denmark](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-denmark/): Denmark is known as the home of the Vikings who ruled from about 800 - 1050 AD. The Vikings were excellent sailors and shipbuilders and known for invading other countries. They controlled parts of England and France in the 11th century. During the reign of King Harald Bluetooth, the Danes converted to Christianity. The Kalmar Union (1397 - 1523) included Denmark, Sweden and Norway and was ruled by Queen Margarete I. Power struggles with the Germans continued over many decades in the 18th and 19th century. Denmark did not join World War I or II but was still invaded by Germany in 1940 and was eventually liberated on the 5th of May 1945. - [Planet Aexus – Czech Republic](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-czech-republic/): Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918 at the end of the First World War from several provinces of the collapsing Austro-Hungarian empire. And, between the wars, it became the most prosperous and politically stable state in eastern Europe until it was occupied by Germany in 1938. - [Planet Aexus – China](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-china/): China was ruled by various dynasties for much of its history but the most influential was the Han Dynasty which laid the foundations for the culture we know today. Later famous dynasties, like the Song and the Tang, continued to refine the culture and bring new innovations to the world including printed money, a permanent navy, and a complex system of government that ruled over 100 million people. - [Planet Aexus – Brazil](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-brazil/): Until the arrival of the Europeans, Brazil was settled by stone-age tribes. When the Portuguese arrived in 1500, Pedro Alvares Cabral claimed the land for Portugal and the first settlement was founded in 1532. The primary export was sugar and Brazil continued to expand through wars and battles. The Portuguese defeated the French to take Rio de Janeiro and also took over several Dutch and British outposts. Soon, Brazil was one of the largest territories in the world. Today, it is the 5th largest country in the world. - [Inbound Marketing & How It Could Work For You](https://aexus.com/inbound-marketing-how-it-could-work-for-you/): When you’re launching a product or service, advertising on the biggest mediums like television and radio might seem like the best idea. You might suppose that if you make a big enough splash, everyone will know who you are and the sales will come rolling in. That’s not strictly speaking true. While these mediums do attract large audiences, your target audience are a very niche segment of that wider demographic. What you need to do is find out exactly who your ideal customer is and target material specifically at them. If you’re in the process of scaling, you may have some data from home regarding what type of person your ideal customer is and where they hangout online. If you have that, great, and if you don’t, it’s not difficult to work out. All you have to do is take a look at your product or service and figure out who that helps the most. What problem does your product solve and who is suffering from those pain points? It could be an individual or even a number of different people within an organisation but the point is that your product is solving somebody’s problem. And, if you can think of these prospect as a real people, you can develop buyer personas for each one of them.   - [Planet Aexus – Belgium](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-belgium/): Belgium was originally part of Gaul and like the rest of Europe was conquered and occupied by the Romans. During the late Middle Ages, Flanders’ trading towns (notably Ghent, Bruges and Ypres) exported woollen goods, making the area one of the richest and most urbanised parts of Europe. As a consequence, a very sophisticated culture developed, with impressive achievements in the arts and architecture, rivalling those of Northern Italy. Ghent, Bruges, Ypres and the Franc of Bruges formed the Four Members, a form of parliament which exercised considerable power in Flanders. In 1830, Belgium gained independence from the Netherlands but came under German occupation in 1914 and again between 1940 and 1944 until Belgium was liberated by the Allied forces. - [Planet Aexus – Austria](https://aexus.com/planet-aexus-austria/): The Austria we know today only actually started as recently as 1955 when it became the Independent Second Republic of Austria. Don’t let that make you think nothing happened before then though as Austria’s history can be traced as far back as the Stone Age when the region was called Ostarrîchi. The Romans ruled for around five hundred years and after they left, it became a centre for migration with German tribes coming from the west and Slavic communities from the east. From 979 AD, Austria was ruled by the Badenberg dynasty. - [How to get to Number 1 on Google](https://aexus.com/how-to-get-to-number-1-on-google/): Google is the number one search engine in the world and it can seriously drive traffic to your site if you rank highly enough on it. Not only will this improve your online visibility but your business will also get a credibility boost and don’t forget that more site visitors may potentially bring more sales. So, there are many reasons to be up there and while it’s very difficult to get the number one spot, the tactics below may at least help you to get higher up on the first page. - [A focus on HR with Amber Dekker](https://aexus.com/a-focus-on-hr-with-amber-dekker/): Pretty much anyone who has ever had a job will most likely have had to interact with human resources at some point. For some, the largest part of that interaction will cover employment contracts and onboarding but there’s a lot more to it than that. For example, not so many people know that HR can offer support to employees from conflict resolution to career advancement opportunities and training to the management of benefits and compensation. - [What is a brand and why is it valuable?](https://aexus.com/what-is-a-brand-and-why-is-it-valuable/): Having a product or a service is all well and good but that alone does not resonate with potential customers. On the other hand though, if you were to develop a brand around the product or service, that would be an important step in the right direction. The difference here is that your brand is the promise you make to your customer and your branding tells your backstory and explains why you are in business. It also defines what you stand for and tells customers what they can expect when they do business with you. So, there are many benefits to being a brand and what you can get from being one ranges from easier brand recognition and customer loyalty to enhanced credibility and the ability to easily introduce new products into your brand’s portfolio. Let’s quickly explain those points in a little more detail:  - [A focus on the recruitment team with Alexandra Melicov](https://aexus.com/a-focus-on-the-recruitment-team-with-alexandra-melicov/): If you’re working with a company now, it’s most likely that your first contact with that company was with someone on the recruitment team. Maybe you filled out an application form, clicked on a link in a job advert or got a referral from a friend. Regardless of the reason your CV landed on the recruiter’s desk though, what happens now is only a small part of what the recruitment team actually do.     - [SDR Training Overview](https://aexus.com/sdr-training-overview/): It’s well known that there is no official route to becoming an SDR. It’s not like you can do a university course or night classes somewhere and then start sending out CVs. It just doesn’t work that way. That’s not to say that there aren’t skills you need to be successful as an SDR. There most definitely are but from a starting point of view, it’s more about your attitude than your academic background. And, let’s face it, there are things that can’t be taught. A positive outlook, a never-say-die attitude and natural curiosity are not the sort of things you’ll find in any schoolbook. As noted before though, there are skills an SDR must have and a lot of these can be taught. Having said that, the vast majority of our SDRs are university educated, are at least bi-lingual and will most likely have had some experience of working abroad, so nobody is starting completely from scratch in terms of entering a professional environment. To fully make sense of why SDRs go through training, it’s important to remind ourselves of exactly what the role of an SDR is: - [How to Prospect](https://aexus.com/how-to-prospect/): Before we can go in to detail, it’s probably a good idea to define what prospecting is.  - [FD Gazellen International 2023](https://aexus.com/fd-gazellen-international-2023/): Aexus was set up in 2000 and as anyone who follows us already knows, the company was founded with a simple, single-minded mission – we’re here to make tech companies successful. Just the fact that we’ve been around for 23 years should give you some indication of how well it’s going. Leaving that aside though, it’s always nice to have your achievements recognised by someone outside your organisation. Not only does it validate your position but also builds trust among your current partners. What’s more, there’s a further commercial aspect to this and that is that other prospects and potential partners can see that you have been awarded and are more open to working with you based on precisely that fact. Further to this, it shows that the blogs, content pieces and marketing materials aren’t just bluff and bluster, they’re actually true. It must be said at this point that you can’t just be awarded by anyone. Those giving the award must have a certain amount of respect and prestige for their opinion to be considered worthwhile. That’s why we were honoured when Het Financieele Dagblad took an interest in us and considered us for an award. - [The Perfect Pitch](https://aexus.com/the-perfect-pitch/): The idea of the perfect pitch is a concept that we don’t trust at Aexus. The idea that there is a generic template that is perfect for all clients is just bizarre and certainly not how we operate. The thing is though, you can see it every day. Just do a quick search on Google and within fractions of a second, you’ll have hundreds of ‘gurus’ offering to sell you a nonspecific pitch that they claim will be the answer to all your business prayers. We don’t think it’s going to work. That is because we believe it is much better to do two or three reach outs in one afternoon than a dozen reach outs in one afternoon or even twenty, fifty or a hundred which some other organisations do. And, they may even get some business out of this approach but they’ll have a lot more misses than hits. So, it's better to do two or three but to really prepare these well and to make sure that you know in advance what the person on the other end of the line really wants. What are his or her challenge?  What are their plans and what systems do they have in place already? What’s the company’s strategy? When you have all that knowledge in place, you are able to approach a potential client as more of a trusted consultant than as a salesperson.  - [Salespeople – Born with it or is it trainable?](https://aexus.com/salespeople-born-with-it-or-is-it-trainable/): It’s the old nature versus nurture debate as to whether good salespeople are born with some sort of natural ability or can someone be trained to reach a good, competent level. You may think that we have sales skills from a very early age as you try to negotiate staying up later than bedtime or getting a raise in pocket money but this is incomparable to your working life where you’ll need to be at the top of your game to compete on a much bigger stage. The truth is though that no one is a born salesperson. We use this phrase all the time but it’s illogical if you think about it. You would never say that someone was a born doctor or a born accountant. The reason the term is employed is most likely because it is used to describe someone who has learnt quickly or had some early success but it’s not a real thing. Obviously though there are some traits which will make becoming good at sales easier. For example, if you are resilient, have an analytical mind it’s actually a long road to becoming very good at sales but with the right training as well as the right attitude, people who excel at it often go on to have very successful careers.    - [Aexus – Helping you to make it in the USA – Chapter 6](https://aexus.com/helping-you-to-make-it-in-the-usa-6/): In this particular edition, we’ll be looking at the Southern region and seeing what this territory has to offer current and potential Aexus partners.        - [Aexus’ Methods in Modern Selling](https://aexus.com/aexus-methods-in-modern-selling/): Some people think that sales is just sales and there is nothing to differentiate one sale from the next but that is not entirely accurate. In fact, that’s specifically why Aexus uses different approaches in its sales methods. First though, it’s important to know what sort of clients (or partners as we call them) Aexus works with. We predominantly work with scale-ups. These are usually run by people who have developed something unique or disruptive in the tech field and have had some success in selling in their home country. Their intention now is to replicate that success in other countries and grow or in other words, scale-up. The thing is though that despite the success they’ve had in their home country, they don’t necessarily know how to do it in other territories. It’s understandable. They can’t work out how they had success at home and why that’s not enough to guarantee success abroad. Sometimes they realise the advantages they had at home were only advantages because they were at home. So, if we were to break that down, they speak the local language, they know the local market, they have local contacts as well as local clients and their salespeople are native to the region and integrated into the process. Once you change territory, these advantages go out of the window. Cultural differences should not be ruled out either. For example, if you are trying to sell into Germany or the Nordics, they like to have a lot of information up front. They will then do their own investigation using the information you gave them and then and only then will they consider setting up a meeting. For the sake of balance, if you’re trying to sell into the Netherlands, a one-pager is enough to pique interest. This is where the help that Aexus is able to provide comes into its own as it is always both commercially and culturally relevant.  - [Aexus – Helping you to make it in the USA – Chapter 5](https://aexus.com/helping-you-to-make-it-in-the-usa-5/): In this particular edition, we’ll be looking at the Northeast region and seeing what this territory has to offer current and potential Aexus partners.        - [Different Types of Salespeople](https://aexus.com/different-types-of-salespeople/): In the sales community, there has been much debate over how many different types of salespeople there are. By this, I don’t mean if they do door-to-door selling, telemarketing or some other form of sales, these are just tactics, what I mean is someone’s personal approach to selling. In other words, the outward personality they have when they are selling. Estimates vary wildly with some suggesting it is as low as three types and others suggesting it could be as high as eleven. However, according to Hubspot, when Brent Adamson and Mathew Dixon looked into one of the largest studies ever conducted in the field, they concluded that there was a much more reasonable and realistic number, which was five different types of salespeople. These include, The Challenger, The Hard Worker, The Lone Wolf, The relationship Builder and The Problem Solver. Let’s take a closer look at these types: - [Aexus – Helping you to make it in the USA – Chapter 4](https://aexus.com/helping-you-to-make-it-in-the-usa-4/): In this particular edition, we’ll be looking at the Western region and seeing what this territory has to offer current and potential Aexus partners.        - [Chat GPT](https://aexus.com/chat-gpt/): There is a certain irony to writing content on Chat GPT without actually using it. It is the talk of the town though and as such is worth discussing. However, just in case you don’t know what it is, Chat GPT is a chatbot with self-learning AI. “So what?” I hear you say but where the benefit lies is that you can generate clear, coherent and well-written copy in a wide variety of styles, topics and languages – and this time it has been done properly. - [Aexus – Helping you to make it in the USA – Chapter 3](https://aexus.com/helping-you-to-make-it-in-the-usa-3/): In this particular edition, we’ll be looking at the Midwest region and seeing what this territory has to offer current and potential Aexus partners.        - [Aexus – Helping you to make it in the USA – Chapter 2](https://aexus.com/helping-you-to-make-it-in-the-usa-2/): In this particular edition, we’ll be looking at the Pacific region and seeing what this territory has to offer current and potential Aexus partners.        ## Pages - [GTM Engineer](https://aexus.com/gtm-engineer/): At Aexus, we help innovative tech companies break into new markets. Does the thrill of the chase, building relationships with great customers and closing deals let your heart start beating faster? Do you enjoy working in an international environment? - [Our story](https://aexus.com/our-story/): In the early and mid-90s, Chris Gerretsen had been working for several tech and software companies around Western Europe, Russia and the Asia Pacific region. Chris noticed that these were good companies with high growth but they were just not able to scale outside of their own countries. The main things they were struggling with seem obvious in hindsight but they didn’t speak the language, didn’t have the right contacts and didn’t know the local business culture. Some of the companies tried to spend their way out of the problem by renting office space, taking legal advice and hiring a local workforce. The trouble is that none of this investment provided these companies with what they needed and despite the money spent, many of them failed to get a positive ROI and some fell by the wayside altogether. It takes a special skill set to scale internationally. And, this was the spark that provided Chris with his eureka moment. - [Business Development Manager (Nordics)](https://aexus.com/business-development-manager-nordics/): Hi there!
